Subject: PRISM errors
Hi, my company has just purchased PRISM (1.1) and I have found the following problems:
when I save (Ctrl+s) a system, I get an error saying it cannot save the database (note: I have inserted some new manufacturers)
then I "save as..." with a changed name and it seems going... but when I exit Prism and try to open the saved system I get this (fatal) error:
"Access violation at address 005B20C07 in module "PRISM.EXE". Read of address FFFFFFFF"
It is quite a big problem. I am going to try a re-installation soon.

Subject: System Level Reliability Model
I just did a small system prediction. It appears that the system reliability model multiplier is being applied at each subassembly and also at the top system level(i.e. This mulitplier is applied at every level so the further down in a system the better the reliability would be). This seems odd to me. Should the system level models only be applied at the system level not the LRU level?

Subject: Drawing content
I am interested in finding out about what criteria is used to determine the quality factor on Semi's and Microcircuits. This information needs to go into our piece part drawings.
Under 217, of course, we had the different classes of microcircuits, and semi's have the "TX" etc ratings.
Passives of course have the Exponential failure rates as well as the old Weibul letters.
What does Prism use, and how can I find out this information without buying the software package?

Subject: Appendix K
We just recently purchased PRISM. In section 18.104.22.168.1 sharing the component library. The documentation refers to Appendix K. The manual I recieved only has up to Appendix J.
Where Do I go to recieve this Appendix? Is there a later version of the manual?

Subject: Hermetic vs Nonhermetic ICs
In trying out the demo I stumbled upon something that puzzles me. I took a linear IC and changed it from hermetic to nonhermetic. Its failure rate increased as expected. But I also noted that the default thermal rise increased from 13C to 25C. So I played a what-if, and left the part as non-hermetic but forced the thermal rise to be 13C. When I did, the failure rate of the IC decreased from 0.04261 to 0.02897 in going from hermetic to non-hermetic. I was wondering if I am misunderstanding something about the RACRate model?
And this leads to a more general question, are the details behind the RACRate models (what the lambda and pi factors are and what impacts them) documented in detail somewhere ? The on-line help refers to Appendices A-G, but I can't seem to find them anywhere with the demo. Is there a way I can get a copy ? Thanks...jrr
