What companies or government organizations are using PRISM? What has the response been? Do you know if any government/military organization is accepting PRISM output as an alternative to MIL-HDBK-217F.

RAC PRISM software was just released this week. PRISM has been beta tested by a number of government and industry organization who provided feedback that was integrated into the final product. Response from PRISM beta testers was positive in nature. The RAC has also utilized PRISM to perform reliability assessments for several of our customers. The Military Specifications and Standards Reform (MSSR) decreed the adoption of performance based specifications as a means of acquiring and modifying weapon systems. This led to the cancellation of many military specifications and standards. This, coupled with the fact the Air Force redirected the mission of the Air Force Research Lab, who had been the preparing activity for MIL-HDBK-217, away from reliability has resulted in MIL-HDBK-217 becoming obsolete, with no government plans for its update. In response, the RAC developed PRISM. PRISM is based on the most current data available at RAC and accounts for all factors which have an affect on the reliability of a system.
