Subject: MTBF calculation using Bellcore TR-332
I am a Component Engineer at SR Telecom and will perform the reliability for component and board level for communication product using Bellcore TR-NWT-000332. I can calculate the total device failure rate (lamda) but get stuck with the MTBF formula. I need to sort out all the formula so can write the VB software for MTBF calculation interface with our current MRP database. Please email me if you know the MTBF formula.

Subject: Example customer returns data
Does anyone out there know where I can get information on the typical customer returns for standard electronic product types. Specifically I am interested in industrial process control equipment and domesic smoke detectors but data on general product types such as cell phones, TVs, fax machines, notebook PCs, flashlights etc. would help me possition where the reliability of my company's products should be.

Subject: Parts Count
Does anybody know if there is a manal available which helps to interprete the parts count methode? The Mil-HDBK-217F Notice2 writes al lot about the Parts Stress - And I miss the difference to Parts Count. Especially I need to know how to work with connections...

Subject: Maintainability Allocation
During reliability allocation, I understand that I need to know each component quantity. But for maintainability allocation, do I need this quantity. For example, there’s 4 wheels on a car, if I lost one wheel, I can allocate its MTTR, but if I take in account the 4 wheels, the MTTR will increase, but, in fact, for each wheel I must have the same MTTR. I made a simulation and I find, say, ½ hour for a wheel, but with the quantity 4, I find ¾ hour. So do I must take in account the quantity for the same component for maintainability allocation.
