Subject: Reliabilty Prediction for Flash Disk & solid state Disk storage Solution
Message:
I have a need to develop a reliability prediciton MTBF for a 5 gigabit Flash based disk storage unit. The supplier has a Bellcore Issue 6, Method I, Case 3 prediction, but I don't know how to translate this to something more aligned with PRISM or a modified 217F, CN2 prediction. Any assistance would be appreciated on this.

Subject: FMECA
Message:
I am undetaking a FMECA and am trying to determine as to whether or not the criticality analysis (Severity of failure v. Probability of failure matrix)takes into account equipment that has redundancy or does it look at the failure of the item as a stand alone item and does not take into account the item having redundancy?
I hope this makes sense! Thanks for any advice.

Subject: Thermal factor estimation
Message:
When using MIL-217, we have to enter thermal parameter.
Although I calculate temperature rising for IC, I can't calculate it for passive components. How should I do for this?

Subject: Error Bars on System Downtime Prediction
Message:
I am hoping that someone can help me. I am performing some Markov modeling to derive system downtime. I am supposed to derive error bars on my downtime predictions. I want to know how I can derive these error bars. Do they come from sensitivity analysis by varying for example the in service fault detection parameter in my availability model? I am looking at a system which is composed of many susbsystems that each require Markov modeling. How do I calculate the error bars for total system downtime which is the sum of all subsystems? I'm assuming things like fault detection (varying it from 80 to 95%), Switch over success probability etc.
