Subject: Failure rate for mosfets
There was a previous question regarding failure rate models for MOSFETs. Does the prism tool support this now? I was unable to tell from a download of the sample. Is it necessary to purchase the prism tool to develop the failure rate for industrial temp range MOSFETs? What have others done when working with MOSFETs? Thanks

The new Prism model does contain a section for FET devices with new models. The demonstration Prism tool is available from the RAC web site and you should be able to down load it and perform a calculation for the FET device. Since the failure rates of most MOSFET devices as calculated from MIL-HDBK-217 are very high due to the age of the model and reference data (pre 1988), this Prism model should provide a more accurate reliability asessment of this device type. Another solution to your problem is to contact the vendors of these devices and collect test and historical data and make your own assessment of the reliability.
