Subject: Quality Factor in 217
Message:
Is there any guideline or standard about how to upgrade or identify the plastic components to higher level in MIL-HDBK-217? For example, , how to identify the plastic transistor as JANTX quality level? Any qualification testing procedure, or screening procedure? Thanks in advance! Kang

MIL-PRF-19500M describes tests that one needs to perform if higher levels of screening are required. Some of the test that the standard recommends include: temperature cycling thermal impedance,hi temperature reverse bias,burn-in,and electrical performance. This specification can be seen on the web at and looking for the applicable specification number. The tests preferences are described in appendix E of the report.
