I am looking for maintenance guidelines (pm/rcm) for portable and fixed generators. Any resources where I can find this information would be most appreciated.

The answer to your question is not a simple one. There are several sources of maintenance information you have requested depending on mechanical or electrical maintenance. IEEE color books are a good source of information for general guidelines and NFPA 70B contains electrical maintenance information. Visit the IEEE.org web address for further information. RAC will be publishing an RCM book latter this year which will assist you in RCM analysis of your generators. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Special Missions Office, PREP is in the process of developing a maintenance guidelines document of power systems, contact Roger Cundiff @ 703-704-2764. RAC performs Availability Analysis on power generation, power distribution, and physical plant systems and could provide you with an RCM analysis if you are interested.
