Transfer of vibration from one transmission component to another is a major problem. Depending on the intensity of the vibration, failure characteristics can include shorted life expectancy(accelerated wear out) to catastrophic failure. As a miminum you can expect gear accelerated wear in degrees depending on the type of gear and material.
