Subject: MIL-HDBK-217 being revised?

I heard a rumor that Mil-Hdbk-217 is being revised. Is this true? If so, will it be incorporating the new proposed PEM model?

I believe that the rumor that MIL-HDBK-217 is being updated is just that, a rumor. The US Air Force at the Rome Laboratory has discontinued all work in the RELIBILITY area. While we at the RAC have expanded our work, and now are preparing a new approach to "RELIABILITY PREDICTIONS" called "PRISM". This is a new system reliability assessment approach that includes the PEM(plastic microcircuit model)model and other parts such as capacitors, resistors, semiconductors and others. We feel that this approach which is an integrated software tool is the next generation of component reliability models. This software tool should be available within the next three months. Watch our home page for the grand unveiling of this step forward in reliability assessment.

Chris, You may also want to investigate using the recently published IEEE Standard on Reliabiity Prediction. Regards, Jerry
