The specific type of equipment that the term Mean-Swaps-Between-Failure seems to be applied to is large magneto-optical jukebox storage devices. The term is experssed in MSBF rating of "X" cycles to indicate the ruggedness of the mechanical robotics. This term is really a subjective use of a "mean" term when they really should express the term as a life limiting function, that is, number of hours or cycles or operations before wear-out failure.
