Subject: FPGA Derating Requirements - Any Suggestions??
Message:
Does anybody know of any derating requirements for FPGA design ? I have the RAC Toolkit which gives ratings for supply voltage, fan out and junction temp for a microcircuit, but I was wondering if there is anything more specific available. Thanks, Richard.

I checked two new sources for detating, the RAC's "Electronic Derating for Optimum Performance" guide and the Navy "Parts Requirement and Application guide and could not find any new techniques. Both documents follow the basic dertating parameters that you have stated.

Thanks for checking Bruce. Which version of the Navy guide do you have ? I have managed to locate: TE000-AB-GTP-010 Rev 1 Parts Derating Requirements and Application Manual for Navy Electronic Equipment - 1991 Is there a newer version than that ? Thanks, Richard.

TE000-AB-GTP-010 Parts Derating Requirements and Application Manual for Navy Electronic Equipment was last updated in January of 2000. It has since been transitioned to a new document entitled Defense Standardization Program Guide for Part Requirement and Application, SD-18. The SD-18 guide is available at the following web page: http://www.crane.navy.mil/SD18/default.htm Derating information for microcircuits is specifically addressed at the following web page: http://www.crane.navy.mil/sd18/microcircuitderating.htm If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact Bruce or myself.
