Subject: Typical MTBF Values
On pg 54 of the Reliabilty Toolkit: CPE, there is a table of typical MTBF values for computer equipment. Are these figures overly pessimistic? If so is there a source of information that will provide more accurate values. (Not all manufacturers are helpful when asking for this information. I would be grateful if anybody could provide me with the numbers.
Thanks in advance.

The Reliability Analysis Center (RAC) does offer MTBF numbers in a tool called SELECT and also it's NonElectronic Parts Reliability Data NPRD
I would suggest that you obtain this tool and use it in conjunction with calling the manufacturer and asking for the exact Model Manufacturers data. This will give you an overview of an MTBF number for a equipment description as a general data point, and also a exact match from the manufacturer in relationship to the Equipment Model Number that you are using.
