Subject: RDGT Testing
I have a question regarding RDGT testing for similar products. For example, if we have three similarly designed products that only vary with the number of installed circuit cards (internally in a rack for example), is it possible to only run one type through RDGT and then form conclusions on the reliability of the other two. If this is a valid process, which product would be the best one to evaluate ? The low, medium or high complexity product ? (my thinking is the high comlexity, but for cost reasons the medium may be the best). Any comments appreciated.

This question on which level of complexity to test, low, medium or high, is easy from the stand-point of a user, test the most complex. In order to draw any conclusions about the reliability of the product, one needs to demonstrate that the product operates under the most extreme conditions. This includes complexity, power levels, signal strengths, tolerances factors, timing protocols and other areas dependent on the type of product. My conclusions is that the most complex product needs to be tested to identify any design or process shortfalls, then conclusions about lesser complexity items can be considered.
