I'm working on a reliability prediction for a Permanent Magnet Motor. I was looking at MIL-HDBK-217 but the model is for motros below 1HP and also to Hadbook of Reliability Prediction Procedures for Mechanical Equipment (David Taylor Research Center) but in the other way this one is too sophisticate. Did you know about any other method/reference to get the model?

MIL-HDBK-217 has a model for low powered electric motors and is based on information collected back in the 1970s. Therefore, even if it had the right power range the data is very old. The mechanical equipment prediction handbook is the proper place to find a method for predicting the capabilities of an electric motor with higher horsepower. The difficult procedure should not be hindrance when performing real reliability engineering as this model considers all the possible failure modes and mechanisms. The last process that you could consider is the use of field data from other sources and applications. NPRD-95 (Non-electronic Part Reliability Data)has a large listing of electric motor failure rates. Choosing the appropriate ones and converting the values to the desired conditions can be performed using part experience or the "Reliability Toolkit, Commercial practices Edition".(see RAC products)
