Subject: Weibull parameter for MTBF
Message: Dear all,
I need to do a MTBF for an electronic application. If I use the NPRD-95 book, I need to know the Weibull parameter for each component. How can I find this parameter or how can I calculate it from Data sheet components ?

Message: If your purpose is to calculate the MTBF for an electronic application, NPRD-95 will not provide much insight since all the components are either mechanical or electro-mechanical. EPRD-97 or PRISM should be used for electronic components. The data in NPRD-95 will not provide Weibull parameters since most of the data collected is does not include time to failure information. Rather the data is generally collected in the form of X failure in Y hours resulting in a average failure rate.
