Subject: Telecordia SR-332
Is the new telecordia SR-332 dramatically changed or have they just updated their tables to reflect current design trends. Can you tell me what are the current changes ? Is it worth adding to a prediction toolkit?

There are some significant changes in Telcordia SR-332 from the earlier version of TR-332. First, there are different FIT Rates for all CMOS IC Devices (Digital, uProcessor, Memory). Also, various other FIT Rates have been updated (the updated FIT Rates are in Boldface). Second, where TR-332 had Methods I, II, and III around which it was organized, in SR-332 these methods no longer exist by name. TR-332 now calls them: 1) Black Box Technique; 2) Black Box Integrated with Laboratory Data Technique; 3) Black Box Integrated with Field Data. Also, what I am founding out with many Telecom companies, is that they want Reliability Predictions IAW SR-332 vice TR-332. They feel TR-332 is an outdated document. I have been performing SR-332 Reliability Predictions for the company I work for (using the software Program Relex Version 7.5) since last October for various start-up and established Telcom companies. If you have any questions about SR-332, email me and I would be glad to answer your questions. I think it would be to your benefit to purchase SR-332.
