Subject: X-Rays and Electronics
I am a safety/reliability engineer for a medical electronics company that manufactures radiotherapy equipment. I was wondering is there any specific information regarding the reliability of electronic systems operating in the region of high energy kV and MV level X-rays. All information that I seem to uncover on radiation seems to focus on solar radiation levels.

After a careful search of the Reliability Analysis Center library, I only found information relating to X-ray exposure at very low levels during manufacturing of microcircuits and semiconductors. The reports indicate that no degradation of the component reliability is expected as a result of this low level exposure. For high level radiation testing and possible X-ray test, I suggest that you consult following reports and/or organizations to see if there is information that is applicable to your situation as degradation could be a possible problem:
