I try to explain simply : - from Time 0 to the first failure = MTTF - from failure "i" to failure "i+1" = MTBF - from failure "i" to return to service = MDT - from return to service to failure "i+1" = MUT MTTF = Mean Time To first Failure MTBF = Mean Time Between Failure = MUT + MDT MUT = Mean Up Time MDT = Mean Down Time
