To estimate reliability, you also need production data too, how many units were shipped per manufacturing period. Without some production information, all you can do is trend complaints. When you get installed base information, enter production and complaints into http://www.fieldreliability.com/Table.htm. Send it. I will send back nonparametric estimates of field reliability and failure rate functions. Enter ships and complaints by failure mode, and I will send back estimates by failure mode.
