Subject: MIL-STD-2173
Message: If anyone has experience with MIL-STD-2173, I am curious about the equation for acceptable failure probability found on page 47. This equation uses 0.5 failures in the numerator. Is there a basis for 0.5 and, if so, what is it?

Message: MIL-STD 2173 was cancelled in 1998 and superceded by navair 00-25-403. You may want to research that document first. You can download it from the following website: https://logistics.navair.navy.mil/rcm/library/403manual.pdf
