How can we use house events in FTA to model different operational phases of system? Some literature links or a small example will be useful.

Hello Ravi, usually the FTA shows differences regarding the phases. A FTA for standby phase must differs from running phases. Similarly for startup phase regarding stop phase. So there is no great difficulty to build the FTA. If this is not the case, the best (from my experience) is to slice the lifecycle in separate sub-phases and build a general FTA addressing, via an “OR” gate, the sub-phases. As a result, you will find the top-event probability for each sub-phases and for the total lifetime.
