Hi. Does anyone know of a reliability model for drive belts? I realize they are listed in NPRD-95 but am hoping for a model that can predict life with stress parameters. Thanks!

Drive belt reliability models do not seem to be part of the standard prediction techniques. I checked the models in MIL-HDBK-217, the Mechanical Reliability Handbook (98/LE1), RDF-2000, and Telcordia. None of these have a model for drive belts. In NPRD-95 (Non-electronic Part Reliability Data), I found a single data point for drive belts. The failure rate for a drive belt in a ground benign environment is 3.73 failures per million hours. This data point could be used in other environments if you use the translation estimation factors in the Reliability Toolkit; Commercial Practices Edition to convert it.
