I am working in the area of FMECA on power supplies. I am yet to see a live example of detailed component level FMECA on power supply with compensating provision/corrective action. Can anybody give me a case study on the same. A detailed case study on any electronic circuit also will be of help to me.

The Reliability Analysis Center technical report, "Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)", has a sanitized version of a study that we performed for a customer on a security system which includes a voltage regulator. This study included failure mode analysis, failure mechanism analysis, failure effects analysis, failure detection considerations, compensating provisions and criticality factors. This report is available from our product catalog. The IEEE symposium tutorial notes for 1998 has an excellent FMECA paper with some examples of use. The title is: "Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis" by Dr. John Bowles of The Univ. Of South Carolina.
