Maintenance optimization is a process that attempts to balance the maintenance requirements and the resources used to carry out the maintenance program. The maintenance optimization process selects the appropriate maintenance technique and identifies the interval to perform the task to achieve regulatory requirements, maintenance/safety targets, equipment reliability, and system availability/costs.
